The Government has made a considerable to base investment decisions on sound economic and technical principles.
This has created a situation where roads in poor condition and low volume roads particularly in the northern sector have been ranked low on the priority list.
To arrest this situation, other models are being investigated so that different criteria can be agreed upon for investment on roads in poor condition or with low traffic volumes.
Also the condition of the road network has to be stabilised after significantly clearing network deterioration, before highest priority will be given to routine and periodic maintenance instead of rehabilitation and reconstruction.
